The Word On The Street
"The WORD on the street" is a way for those living in the United States to be connected with those living in the Land. The day's events, politics, pop-culture, family life, maybe even what’s on the dinner menu—all of this and more is likely to be found here. Visit regularly to hear the WORD on the street from our MAs and friends in Israel.
Rain and Iran
01 October, 2008
Rain and Iran.....same letters slightly rearranged, are on everybody's lips. In some sense we are waiting for both, one to bring a blessing and the other a curse.
With regard to Iran, a law has just been passed requiring all security rooms being built, (including those in private homes), to be equipped with filter systems against poison gas.
Israel is in dire need of rain to replenish the Sea of Galilee and the underground reservoirs. Early rain fell today, briefly but heavily, and we all stood with mouths open relishing the sound and smell. (Normally the first rain falls lightly at Succot. At Rosh Hashanah prayer for rain begins in the synagogues. Believers are always praying for rain, literal and spiritual.)
Paul McCartney gave his first concert in Israel last night causing huge traffic jams around TelAviv. Tickets sold for between 500-5000 NIS. Sadly the golden calf is still worshipped.
