Haim of Haifa and Family:
For most Americans raised in the Evangelical Church before the 90s, slideshows of missionaries in far off places were a regular Sunday fixture. The narration often quoted the Word of God’s inspired call to consider the lost: The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. This passage must have been part of Rose Warmer’s thinking when she left potential comfort and personal advancement to go to the land of Israel. If not, she who was saved out of the deception of Gnosticism and the occult, she who willfully allowed herself to be identified as a Jew, she who ministered to her people in Hitler’s death camps, if not she, then who would tell those in the newly formed Jewish state of Israel about the Messiah? Rose spent her life in the Land, distributing Bibles, ministering, evangelizing, and simply caring for the people. But as she aged, the workers were clearly few, and the harvest was more plentiful than ever. . .
A new Jewish believer and recent immigrant from New Zealand, “Haim of Haifa”* exited the building where he worked as a chemist to face a torrent of persecution from angry Jews who could not accept his beliefs. Though he courageously returned to work the next day, the Spirit began to move his heart to consider how he might spread the Good News in the Land. . .
Today, the willing work of Rose Warmer continues in “Haim of Haifa’s” work, as he visits various kibbutzim, libraries, and homes, accompanied by his wife or son. They are gladly distributing God’s Word to the people of the Book, engaging in many meaningful conversations, and sowing the seeds of tomorrow’s harvest, a work that will only end when our Redeemer comes for all who are His.
*Used to prevent discrimination and retaliation, the pseudonym, “Haim of Haifa,” identifies one of our current Ministry Affiliates in Israel who has carried on Rose Warmer’s work since 1984.
