John and Judy Pex:
The world is hungry for diversity and for peace, but the Scriptures are clear that, without the Prince of Peace, there can be no such Edenic state. What a privilege it is, then, that the church of Messiah Jesus is replete with such a diverse body of people, both in ethnicity and personality. This is exactly how man (in his pre-fallen perfection) was supposed to be. After all, Yeshua came that we might live, and do so abundantly. Far down in the southern tip of the land of Israel, isolated from the rest of the country in all its beauty and complexity, is an even more picturesque place called Eilat. This is where John and Judy Pex, a couple who have found abundant life in Christ, live and minister. John, born to a Catholic family in the Netherlands, and Judy, born to a Jewish family in the Washington, D.C. area, have traveled the world in search of the truth, and they found it in the part of the world that was the birthplace of the very Word of Truth Himself. Judy became a believer in Yeshua while living in an oasis in the Sinai Desert. John, after sailing on a Dutch Merchant Marine ship and volunteering on a kibbutz, was given a Bible in a hippie community in Eilat. Today, many years later, they are part of a picture of God’s grace and diversity as they manage a youth hostel in Eilat which sees travelers from literally across the globe. Among the more needy visitors are those who have fled the tyranny and genocide of the Sudan and have come for refuge to the hostel, where John is also a leader of the Eilat Congregation, a local body seeking to be a “voice calling in the wilderness.” As John and Judy point those who are searching to the God of Israel, they themselves are a picture of the true diversity which may only be found in Yeshua and which will be enjoyed throughout all eternity.
